Suggestions

I am very excited that I found this WebQuest and have already begun planning how I will use it in my own classroom next year. It does a very nice job of presenting information, involving students, pushing thinking, and creating relevancy. I also think the persuasive letter assignment is especially relevant to 7th grade writing standards. There are two areas I would focus improvement on. I think the Memorial assignment was still a bit vague and presented in a haphazard way. I would make a more useful handout and possibly present the sample memorials in a short video to engage students a bit more. There is also very little immediate feedback provided throughout the Quest. While the teacher could easily be rotating and providing input throughout, I would incorporate more use of formative assessment (especially as this quest will take probably a week to complete). I might create a brainstorming form for the presentation that students must turn in ahead of time, as well as having them turn in the memorial handout much earlier in the process. Finally, even though there is a resource site provided for the letter assignment, my students will need a bit more clear direction and a specific brainstorming activity to get them started.
